What is PRA eIMS?
By the Hajza team Updated
The short answer
PRA eIMS is the Punjab Revenue Authority's electronic Invoice Monitoring System. A connected point of sale sends each taxed service bill to PRA as it is paid, and PRA returns a fiscal number that is printed on the receipt with a QR code. It covers services taxed by PRA, not goods, which fall under FBR.
What does eIMS stand for?
eIMS is PRA's electronic Invoice Monitoring System. A registered point of sale reports invoices to it over the internet, so each taxed service bill reaches PRA when it is issued, not only later in a tax return.
What happens when a bill is paid?
In Hajza, a service bill is filed with PRA as soon as it is paid, in four steps:
- Hajza builds the invoice from the bill: the services, their prices, the discount, the tax and how the customer paid.
- It sends the invoice to PRA in the background, so the counter never waits for PRA's server.
- PRA answers with a fiscal number, which Hajza stores and prints on the receipt with a QR code the PRA Sahulat app can scan.
- If PRA is slow or down, the receipt prints straight away and the fiscal number appears when it is printed again after PRA answers. Failed attempts are retried, and the PRA Invoices screen lists every bill with its status and a Retry button.
What happens when a bill is cancelled?
Voiding a bill PRA has accepted files a credit note with PRA that points back to the original invoice, so PRA's records match yours. A bill PRA holds cannot be edited in Hajza: you correct it by voiding it and entering it again, so PRA's records and your receipts never disagree.
Which bills does Hajza send to PRA?
Only taxed service bills: the appointments and walk-ins of a salon, spa or barber shop in Pakistan that has PRA e-invoicing switched on and tax enabled. A bill with no tax on it is not sent.
Product sales are goods, and sales tax on goods falls under the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), not PRA, so Hajza does not send them to PRA. Hajza does not file anything with FBR either. Businesses outside Pakistan never see the PRA settings at all.
What do you need to connect?
Three things, all from PRA:
- Your PNTN, the Punjab National Tax Number.
- A POS ID, which PRA issues when you register your point of sale on its registration portal.
- The token PRA shows against that POS ID.
How do you go live?
You enter the three details in Hajza under Settings, then Venue, then PRA E-invoicing. The token is stored encrypted and is never shown on screen again.
Start in PRA's sandbox. PRA's registration portal can generate a test POS ID, and the sandbox uses a token PRA publishes for testing. Settle a real bill in Hajza and check that a fiscal number comes back. Then register a production POS with PRA, which PRA approves, enter its POS ID and token, and switch the environment to Production.
Who has to register with PRA?
PRA decides which businesses must register and which must integrate their point of sale, and its rules can change. Check PRA's official website, or ask PRA directly, before relying on any summary, this one included. Hajza does not decide whether you need it: it gives you the connection when you do.
Does it cost extra in Hajza?
No. PRA e-invoicing is part of the Hajza plan, not a paid add-on.
