Choosing salon software in Pakistan

By the Hajza team Updated

The short answer

The right salon software depends on your size and province. A staffed salon needs appointments and walk-ins on one calendar, a point of sale, staff commission worked out for you, stock, and in Punjab, PRA e-invoicing. Compare vendors on what is included in the monthly price, what costs extra, and whether pricing is per branch or per staff member.

What does a staffed salon need from its software?

  • Appointments and walk-ins on one calendar, so a stylist is never booked twice.
  • A point of sale for services and retail products, with cash, card and split payments.
  • Staff commission and pay worked out from the bills, not from a notebook.
  • Stock that goes down as products are sold, per branch.
  • In Punjab, bills sent to PRA with the PRA invoice number and QR code on the receipt.

What should I ask every vendor?

Ask each of these, and get the answer in writing:

  • Is the price per branch, or per staff member? A salon with many stylists pays very differently under the two.
  • Is there a setup or installation fee, and is there a minimum contract?
  • How is commission worked out? Before or after a discount, with or without tax, and can it start above a daily or monthly cutoff?
  • Is payroll included, or a paid add-on?
  • In Punjab, is PRA e-invoicing included, or a paid add-on, and does it send service bills to PRA as they are paid?
  • What still works when the internet drops, and what happens to sales taken offline?
  • With more than one branch, can I see every branch from one login, and is there a report that adds them together?
  • Can I export my customers, products and services if I leave?
  • Can you import my current client list?
  • Is the app in English, Urdu or both?
  • Do WhatsApp reminders cost extra, and how are messages paid for?
  • How long is the free trial, and does it need a card?

How do I work out the real monthly cost?

The headline price is rarely the whole bill. Add up, for one month:

  • The plan, times your branches if it is priced per branch, or times your staff if it is priced per person.
  • Every add-on you would actually use, such as online booking, payroll or PRA e-invoicing.
  • Any setup or installation fee, spread over the months you expect to stay.
  • Message costs, if reminders are sent on WhatsApp or SMS.
What Hajza costs, for one branch
Item Cost
Plan, any number of staff Rs 5,000 a month
Staff commission and payroll Included
PRA e-invoicing Included
Setup fee None
Online booking page (add-on) Rs 2,500 a month
Free trial 30 days, no card

Compare the same salon on every quote: the same branches, the same number of staff and the same features.

Salon software or a general POS?

A general point of sale is often cheaper and fine for selling products. Salon software adds what a general POS lacks: appointments by staff member, commission worked out per service, and a record of each customer's visits. If most of your revenue is services done by staff on commission, salon software saves the hours spent working out pay by hand.

Foreign apps or local software?

International salon apps are polished and widely used. Ask whether they price in rupees, whether they handle PRA e-invoicing, and when their support answers in Pakistan time. For a single stylist working alone, a low per-person price can be the cheaper choice.

Local software is more likely to price in rupees, file with PRA and answer on WhatsApp. Check each claim against the vendor's own pages.

If you are in Punjab: PRA e-invoicing

PRA requires salons in Punjab to register and give proper digital receipts, and taxes salon services at 5%. Software with PRA e-invoicing sends each taxed service bill to PRA and prints the PRA invoice number and QR code on the receipt. Ask whether it is included in the price. Our guide to PRA registration for salons covers each step.

If you are outside Punjab

Services are taxed by each province's own authority, such as the Sindh Revenue Board in Karachi. Hajza files only with PRA, and files nothing with SRB or FBR, so outside Punjab you file yourself whichever software you use. Ask any vendor exactly which authority it files with.

Who is Hajza for, and who is it not for?

Hajza is built for staffed salons, barber shops and spas, and for businesses with more than one branch. It costs Rs 5,000 a month per branch, however many stylists you have, after a 30-day free trial that needs no card, with no setup fee and no contract. Staff commission, payroll, stock and PRA e-invoicing are part of the plan. The online booking page is an add-on at Rs 2,500 a month, and WhatsApp reminders need it and a messaging top-up.

What Hajza does not do today, so you can weigh it:

  • No report that adds all branches together. Each branch has its own reports, and one login switches between them.
  • One commission rate per staff member. Busier days are rewarded with bonus tiers, not a stepped rate.
  • No commission on product sales.
  • No import button for an existing client list.
  • English only.
  • Product sales work offline; appointments and service bills need a connection.

For one stylist working alone, a cheaper per-person app may suit you better.

Questions

What is the best salon software in Pakistan?

It depends on your size and province. A staffed salon in Punjab needs appointments, commission and PRA e-invoicing in one place, while a single stylist may need only a booking calendar. Put the same checklist to every vendor, including us.

How much does salon software cost per month?

It depends on how it is priced: per branch, per staff member or per year, with or without add-ons and setup fees. Hajza costs Rs 5,000 a month per branch, however many stylists you have.

Is there free salon software?

Some apps have a free plan with limits, or charge per booking or per payment instead. Check what is free, what each booking or payment costs, and what happens to your data if you move. Hajza has a 30-day free trial, then a monthly price.

Do I need internet to use salon software?

Most salon software runs online, so ask what keeps working when the connection drops. In Hajza, product sales and stock work offline and sync later, while appointments and service bills need a connection.

Can I move my client list from my current software?

Ask your current vendor whether it exports your customers as a spreadsheet, and the new one whether it imports one. Hajza exports customers, products and services as a spreadsheet, but has no import button today.

What is the difference between a POS and salon management software?

A POS takes payment for a sale. Salon management software adds the rest of the day: appointments by staff member, commission and pay, customer history and stock, with the POS inside it.
