PRA QR code on receipts: how to check it
By the Hajza team Updated
The short answer
The QR code on a Punjab bill carries the invoice number PRA issued when the bill was reported to its electronic Invoice Monitoring System (eIMS). Scan it with PRA's Sahulat app, or type the number into PRA's online invoice lookup, to check that the bill reached PRA. A business gets one by connecting its point of sale to PRA.
Check a receipt
- PRA Sahulat app (Android): scan the QR code on a receipt
- PRA Sahulat app (iPhone): the same app on the App Store
- eIMS invoice lookup: type in the PRA invoice number instead
What does the QR code on a PRA receipt mean?
It shows the business reported that bill to PRA and PRA accepted it. When a connected point of sale sends an invoice, PRA answers with a fiscal invoice number, and the receipt prints that number with a QR code. On a Hajza receipt, the QR code holds exactly the number printed above it, which is what PRA's app reads.
How do I check a PRA receipt?
It takes about a minute:
- Install PRA Sahulat, PRA's app for checking receipts, from Google Play or the App Store.
- Scan the QR code on the receipt. The app checks whether the receipt is genuine.
- Or open PRA's eIMS invoice lookup and type in the PRA invoice number. It shows the invoice's items, tax and totals as PRA holds them.
- Check that what PRA shows matches the receipt in your hand.

What should a PRA receipt show?
PRA's guidance for restaurants, hotels and coffee shops spells it out: the business name, address and PNTN, the details of the order, the tax rate, the amount before tax, the total, the PRA invoice number and the PRA QR code. For salons, PRA asks for a proper digital receipt.
A receipt from a Punjab salon on Hajza shows:
- The business name and address, and its PNTN.
- Each service and its price, and any discount.
- The amount before tax, and the tax with its rate.
- The total and how it was paid.
- The PRA invoice number and its QR code.

Why might a receipt have no QR code yet?
It may have printed before PRA answered. Hajza prints the receipt at once, so a slow PRA server never holds up the counter, and the PRA invoice number and QR code appear when the receipt is printed again after PRA answers. A receipt printed in that gap has no QR code, which on its own does not mean the bill was kept from PRA.
Product sales are goods, not services, so Hajza does not send them to PRA, and their receipts never carry a PRA QR code.
What if a business will not give a proper receipt?
PRA says temporary or handwritten receipts are not permissible, and that customers should always ask for a proper digital receipt. A customer refused a card or digital payment can complain through the PRA Sahulat app or PRA's social media. PRA's guidance for hotels and restaurants also gives a WhatsApp number for complaints, 0343-0000772.
How does a business get the PRA QR code on its bills?
Register with PRA, register your point of sale with PRA to get a POS ID and token, and use software that sends each bill to PRA. Hajza does this for the service bills of salons, spas and barber shops in Punjab: you enter your PNTN, POS ID and token once, and every taxed service bill gets its PRA invoice number and QR code. Our guide to PRA registration for salons covers each step.
